Skyfire

Bass Harbor Head lighthouse in Acadia National Park has been an iconic spot for me for a long time. I finally made it last year, and I had planned the best light to come to this place. This shot looks quite peaceful, but the reality was that this place is a victim of its success. There was a car line up to get to the parking lot for almost a half mile. I decided to walk and when I finally got down here, I took a strategic position to get a panoramic shot and I stayed put here for 2-3 hours. Many photographers were lined up almost shoulder to shoulder to get the same image. Fortunately, most people left as soon as the sun dipped under the horizon. I had made that mistake in the past and I learned to be patient. Was it ever worth it! The sky became on fire shortly after the mass of tourist left. It was a great feeling to have caught this unbelievable sunset. Can you spot the photographer in this image?
