Secret Gem

This place should be the definition of hidden gem. Discovering this area was as magical as it gets. We swam through clear azur water deep inside a dark cave with only our guides light source. Our guide pointed out a scorpion sleeping in it’s cave as we swam underneath it and apparently a tarantula lives here too! We got a little kick of adrenaline here. As we kept swimming, we discovered one of the most fantasy like area in Mexico. It was perfect. So perfect, that we paused here for an hour as our guide allowed us to do so. As we were leaving, a beam of light came through the Cenotes opening. I was allowed to go back and photograph it one last time and here is the final result.

He then brought us through a secret place in the cave. It was not the time to be claustrophobic since the cave ceiling was right above our heads and the walls at our shoulders deep into a dark cave. We left the place with a full memory card and big smiles on our faces. With social media today, it is hard to find new photogenic opportunities. Unspoiled natural locations with minimal man-made elements, deep inside a cave with flying baths is all we need to be happy now. Photography brings a purpose to our journeys and finding places like this inspires us to continue. We got off the beaten path to make our own adventure while trying to remain safe at all times.
