Candy Cane

Brier’s Island has a very unique lighthouse. Its candy cane red and white stripes are what got me driving to this small Island in the middle of the night. The lighthouse itself was already worth the drive. After a 6 hour drive and 2 ferries later we finally arrived. I spent the night looking for an interesting foreground to complement the lighthouse while also planning for the direction of the sun to rise above the horizon. Once I found it, it became a waiting game. I rested here for a couple of minutes and enjoyed looking at the lighthouse under the stars. Since I was at the edge of the Island, I could almost feel the waves crashing into the rocks. I woke up as soon as the light emerged and I started shooting all through the sunrise. The seagulls were awake as soon as the sunlight hit the horizon. I really enjoyed this little Island at the edge of Nova Scotia. We spent the next 2 days enjoying the peaceful views and planning some more interesting shots.⁠
