Artist Statement

My work has been guided by a profound passion to discover mother nature’s finest in the best light available. I consider my photography to be therapeutic as it allows me to enjoy intimate moments with natures finest. I find in our current era, we don’t often stop to enjoy the beautiful sceneries around us. I make it my personal mission to find these locations and take the time to appreciate them. They allow me to reconnect with myself and be present in the moment.

I have been focusing my travels purely around photography for the past couple of years and I have been loving every minute of it. My photography style has evolved over time and has been tainted by many great photographers along the way. For travel/landscape photography, it all starts by meticulously studying the locations and the weather to be at the right place at the right time. Most of these images are taken at painfully early and late hours. Some after scary hikes in the dark in unknown wild locations. Sometimes, despite grand efforts, nature has other plans and I am left without anything to show. I have learned to be patient and to simply return the following days until I achieve my goal.

Only the best images are carefully worked on. This is another interesting yet very complex part of photography where I have developed my own style of detailed yet dreamy images with a lot of attention to detail. When an image is approaching approval, it is printed and inspected for imperfections. The process of printing is also an art form in itself and significantly improves the quality of the work. I then move on to large format printing in a dedicated print shop. After close inspection and approval, the prints are signed and numbered for my limited-edition collections.

I content myself with going the extra mile to achieve my results. I have spent many hours to improve my art and the learning process is part of the enjoyment. I am grateful for the support that I have received so far and hopefully my pieces will speak to you as much as they had to me during those moments in time.

Truly yours,

André Poirier
